C42 continues to operate out of the Level 2 Office space on 42 Waterloo Street.
C42 currently runs 6 different types of residencies, broadly addressing two strands of focus:
These residencies offer multiple developmental opportunities for artists to explore, engage and collaborate. The goal of the Residencies is to build a network of vibrant and collaborative practices. They are catered for content-creators, as well as for audiences who are interested in the process of new-text creation and curious about the rich heritage of local theatre and writing.
At present, only the New Scripts Residency and The Vault:Lite Residency run on Open Call cycles on a seasonal basis.
We are open to receive proposals for the other Residencies throughout the year.
Find out which Residency is suitable for you at your current juncture of development here.
Write in to residence@centre42.sg if you are keen to apply for these residencies.
As of 2020, C42 has reimagined our programme offerings to meet the evolving needs of the theatre landscape. Together with a newly developed C42 Archive of SG Theatre, our revamped suite of residencies, training courses and partnerships are designed to continue our mission to support the creation, documentation and promotion of Singapore theatre.
Some of the older programmes like Citizens’ Reviews, Boiler Room, Fellowship, Living Room have ceased; while some like Basement Workshop, Guest Room, Apprentice Dramaturgs’ Training have been restructured and rebranded into Residencies, Events, Courses & Workshops.
The C42 Archive of SG Theatre is a publicly-accessible online resource which aims to build a more comprehensive, diversified picture of Singapore theatre history through multiple modes of documentation.
